Earlier in the year I paid a visit to Gullivers Bookshop in Wimborne and you can read about my experience here. I’m delighted to again be writing about Gullivers but this time in relation to the Wimborne Literary Festival which the book shop is hosting for the second year. I’m pleased to see Dorset’s writing talent on the programme, including a workshop to be delivered by Sarah Steele who runs the Wimborne Writing Group. This will be a treat for anyone interested in poetry. Sarah is an experienced tutor who runs the Wimborne Writing Group which meets once a month on a Wednesday in the Community Learning and Resource Centre. Members are experienced and talented writers who enjoy tasks and activities set by Sarah to develop writing skills. The collaborative support offered by group members is something I definitely miss now that I am temporarily unable to attend the sessions due to work commitments. You can read more about Sarah here.
There is another Sarah on the programme but this time it’s Sarah Challis. I was lucky enough to win a hardback copy of her novel The Garden Party during a writer’s talk at Dorchester Library and I’ve since read Footsteps in the Sand. This story takes the reader to Mali with two young women who find themselves executors to their great aunt’s will. They are required to take Mary’s ashes to a final resting place in the Saharan desert and so unfolds a mystery.
Top billing at the Wimborne Literary Festival is Colin Dexter who offers an evening event on 2 November titled Morse and Me.

I won’t be able to make it to Wimborne as I’m missing my daughter so we’re going to Nottingham. I’m working on a romantic comedy at the minute, about 40,0000 words in. How about you?
