I was delighted to find out this week that two monologues I submitted to Salisbury Fringe have been selected for a monologue mash. This is an evening where professional actors perform the monologues on Zoom. A total of eight monologues are split into two groups and the audience votes for their favourite in each set of four. There will follow a run off between the two successful pieces, a second vote will take place and the winner announced.
This will be a fun evening and is open to all. Do pop 4 October in your calendar and I’ll provide further details when the programme is announced. Baby Love written with Sarah Scally and Maria Pruden as part of 3-She has previously been selected for the Salisbury Fringe in a script-in-hand performance. The photo below shows Sally Hunt (left) and Lee Wyles performing this comedy sketch at Bridport Arts Centre in 2018.

I was recently advised to focus on one genre of writing to further my career. No chance! I enjoy the variety too much. And by having so many irons in the fire means one success offsets other rejections. So, although I’m very pleased and proud The String Games made it to the final three of the Dorchester Literary Festival Writing Prize, I leant this week that it has not won. An announcement will be made on 5 October 2020 and I send congratulations to the winner.
